Grown in the heart of the Amazon forest in Brazil, rosewood trees are subject to strict regulation by the Brazilian government, specifically an agency known as IBAMA (Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis) that is responsible for the future of Brazilian rosewood. In addition to the rigorous IBAMA certification processes and regeneration requirements that exist, harvested rosewood is hand cut and carried to a river boat to avoid damaging the surrounding vegetation. From there, the harvested rosewood travels from the heart of the Amazon for 3-5 days in order to reach the rosewood distiller. Harvest schedules are dictated by river levels and as a result, typically occur between January and July. Processing Notes: Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the chopped wood. Common Name: Rosewood. Aroma: Woody, Floral
