Nutiva Shelled Hempseed -- 8 oz

Delicious nutty flavor. Add to your favorite recipes. Non GMO. 33% Protein. 9% Omega-3. Hemp is a gift of nature. Enjoy the world's most nutritious seeds, either plain or as a delicious condiment. Shelled hempseeds are 33% protein, and rich in vitamin E as well as Omega-3 and GLA-the healthy essential fatty acids doctors recommend. While other firms heat their hempseeds, they simply remove the seed's hard shells, yielding a 100% raw gourmet product that tastes like pine nuts. Eat 2-4 tablespoons daily by adding them to smoothies, cereal, omelettes, yogurt, soups, salads, and veggies. Consider lightly pan-toasting the seeds-but not above 325 F to conserve the EFAs.

"tasty; but the value is not too great, i can go through the bag in 1-2 days other than that it's delicious."

Healthy and Great Tasting, February 8, 2008
By MMGN from Tennesse

"I have been trying to follow Kat James eating philosophy and she recommended this product. I had no idea what to expect, but we are enjoying it very much. I use it to replace rice or pasta under fish and veggies. It is not a very strong flavor, but it gives just a pleasant, nutty hint to the dish. Vitacost definitely has the best price I've been able to find and their customer service has been great!"

YUMMY!, January 19, 2008
By hotpinklife from Canby, CA

"If you would like to add a little crunch to a salad or yogurt, try the hemp seeds. My husband and I love them AND the best part, they are so healthy. I just love finding things like this to add to my diet that are both yummy and good for me. Try it, you'll like it."

good if you like them, January 18, 2008
By ronniekins from Germantown. MD

"If you like eating nuts, you'll probably like this product. I'm a big believer in the nutritional value of hemp and Nutiva makes high quality products, so I tried these. I just don't much prefer eating large quantities of raw nuts myself so this wasn't for me (I prefer other hemp products like bars or shakes or even hemp butter). One caveat: the seeds are much smaller than sunflower seeds, so it becomes annoying to pick them up with your fingers. I found it easier to just use a spoon."

"Tasty, good oils, but alas, super-caloric and also very teeny (like millet or uncooked quinoa) and therefore easy to spill. As these taste somewhat like sliced raw almonds, I decided to add them to some green beans and saute the mixture with vegetable cooking spray. Oh, yum! Probably better than almonds for that purpose--oh, and more protein-rich. The higher than usual protein content for a seed/nut helps to offset the crazy calories. I'm thinking (theoretically) that maybe (despite these being so small and concentrated that to spoon them is almost like spooning a nut butter) that the fact that their size makes snacking out of the hand or bag prohibitive might help with my caloric intake of them."

"These seeds are a great nutritional bet and are delicious as well. I use them on everything from salad to toast to boost the protein and fiber content of a meal, and as a protein substitute. If you like pine nuts, you'll like hemp seeds. Delicious toasted, too."
