NSI Extra Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil -- 16 oz

Promotes balanced cholesterol levels. Healthy Cooking oil made from certified organic coconuts. How does Extra Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil work? Coconut oil is a healthier, unprocessed oil that may help promote balanced cholesterol levels. Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids containing lauric acid (found in mother's milk), medium-chain fatty acids which are metabolized and converted to energy. This is why baby formulas often include coconut oil. In the past coconut oil had been mistakenly considered unhealthy however, coconut oil is cholesterol free and rich in medium chain "good fats" that doctors recommend. NSI Extra Virgin Certified Organic Oil is versatile, so it can be used as a high heat cooking oil, baking substitute, or butter replacement on bread and vegetables. NSI Extra Virgin Certified Organic Coconut Oil is better because it:. Organic. Has a longer shelf life. Offer superior supplementation at a fraction of the cost of other brands currently on the market.

"I just tried NSI extra virgin coconut oil for the first time. For cooking, I prefer coconut oil vs extra virgin coconut oil for milder flavor and aroma, but NSI doesn't have both. Can't beat the price, so it's a bit of a trade-off. My hubby eats it out of the jar and isn't that fussy about texture. We do eat it spread on toast and again, I prefer the milder flavor. So far, I've noticed none of the leaking that other reviewers have experienced, but I didn't purchase in the heat of the summer, either. It's a nice option for the price, but not my favorite type of coconut oil."

"The product itself is actually very high quality, but the container it is packaged in is terrible. First of all, when I received the product, some of the contents had leaked all over the other products in the package even though it was still tightly sealed. Next, there is no good way to pour the product from the huge opening at the top. Therefore, you must spoon it out and it tends to get all over the place. If anyone at NSI is reading this review, you really need to change to package so that it is more like a bottle that holds oil, large circumference at the bottom going up to a small opening at the top. That being said, once I transferred the product to another container, it was fine and it seems to be extremely high quality. I will not purchase this product again in its current form"

"The freaking packaging for this liquid OIL was a wide lipped screw top. What??? Everytime you open the jar, you're afraid that you'll accidentally spill it. They need to make the opening somewhat accident proof.

Also this coconut oil doesn't state whether or not it's unrefined. Unrefined virgin young coconut oil is the absolute best, if you can find it. But this one, once again, does not state whether it is refined or unrefined."

"I have used several coconut oils, and although this one is pretty good, it is not my favorite. When solid it is quite hard, the texture is not nearly as smooth or creamy as some other brands and the flavor was just OK. I do not feel that this product is superior to other extra virgin organic coconut oil products that I have tried. I would recommend it for cooking (frying)."

"i sing this product's praises to pretty much everyone. we use it now A LOT, in place of butter, with butter (in baking recipes...makes REALLY good cookies), in place of olive oil for sauteeing (it withstands high temperature cooking better than olive oil), and it's really good just spread on apple slices, or on a toasted english muffin (whole wheat!). if it's being used in cooking or baking, and you're concerned about the flavor, it cooks out (either that, or i became used to it). if it's being used as a spread, the flavor of coconut stays, but it's really tasty. and it's not sweet at all, like i was expecting."

"I really like this stuff, it tastes just as good and Garden of Life, and is $2 less. I love the NSI products and feel they are a great value and quality. I use coconut oil to cook with and as a butter subsitute. You can also use it on dry hair and skin, just like lotion. I absorbs really nicely into the skin."

"1. coconut oil's melting point is very high, it is the only oil anyone should cook with.
2. the saturated fat is MCT ( medium chain triglyerides) thus you won't gain any fat from this, you will actually lost fat!"

"My Seattle Yogini daughter inspired me to switch from cooking with olive oil to "coconut oil", since it withstands high temperatures other oils do not. After years of thinking coconut oil BAD for me, I now delight in the taste of this oil as well as the flavor of foods that are cooked in it. It is refreshing to know that it is no longer bad for us, has many good nutritive qualities and is safer than other oils for cooking. I received this from Vita Cost in an appropriate wide mouthed container (since it becomes solid at room temperature). I believe I've been converted to using this oil for all my high heat cooking. Thank you, Vita Cost, for offering it at a reasonable price"

"I use and love many products made by NSI, but was not impressed with this one. The jar leaked all over my cabinets and it had a very processed, burnt taste. I could not taste coconut and the smell was so offputting that I did not even wish to use it for my bath oil."

"I was looking for the health benefits w/o the strong coconut flavor. This oil has a very mild flavor that usually disappears in baking and cooking. During this hot summer, it has been pure oil, not lard-like as someone else had mentioned (low melting point). Good price, good flavor, good results (we also use the gels)."

What better place than the internet where we found VitaCost and NSI coconut oil. We have been using it for several months now and could not be more pleased. We will definitely continue with both VitaCost and NSI products.

"I have found it very difficult to get hold of organic coconut oil at a decent price here in the UK. I did find an alternative product when I lived in Germany but it tasted bland and the production was suspect. NSI's product offers a large amount at a low price, even after international shipping and taxes, and it tastes great, too. I use it mostly in place of butter or as a cooking fat, but have been known to add it to yogurts, smoothies and cereals."
