Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) a nutrient present in every cell of the body, essential to chemical reactions which allow the body to produce energy. In addition to playing a crucial role in normal metabolism and energy production, Alpha Lipoic Acid also functions as a potent antioxidant that helps protect healthy cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. Besides protecting membranes, mitochondria (the energy-producing structures within cells) and cellular DNA, RLA work synergistically with vitamins C and E and Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). First, the body produces barely enough of this nutrient to keep up with metabolic demands, and the amount decreases as you age. Second, ALA functions as an antioxidant only when it's present in excess. If you have only a small amount in your body, it will be used for energy production rather than antioxidant protection. "I initially received this item after my first order ran out. When I opened the bottle, it had a strange burnt smell. I was taking it for a few weeks but the scent was very disturbing to the point that I called up to inquire. I was sent a replacement and guess what, same problem??? The first batch no problem. The last 2, strange burnt odors??? If it was not so potent it wouldn't matter, but I really dispise the smell so much that I will probably stop taking it altogether."

"Ive used this before but the last batch i got a few days ago the capsules are smaller, color a little more yellow, and it takes more to take care of the peripheral neuropathies, as an rph it seems that you are using a capsule that normally would be used for a 250 mg. instead of a 3 or 4oo mg . Its definatly not as potent, but the cost of this item is great. Ive used 100 mg s before the capsule size is similar."
