Antioxidant Amino Acid with Many Benefits - Aids in Cellular Growth, Sperm Mobility, and Membrane Stabilization Taurine is a sulfur containing amino acid chemically known as beta-aminoethanesulfonic acid. Taurine is a metabolite of the amino acids methionine and cysteine and is found in most cells. As an antioxidant, taurine is used to quench hypochlorite secreted by leukocyte immune cells. Taurine also aids in osmoregulation (maintenance of proper concentrations of ions) inside the cell. Taurine's other biological functions include cellular growth, membrane stabilization, sperm mobility, bile acid conjugation and neurotransmission. Taurine amy also benefit athletic performance, as it acts as an insulin mimetic, thereby allowing for better glucose deposition into muscles.

"Have begun to supplement taurine to help with IBS, also works with nettles and tyrosine. First found out that taurine was depleted with using MSG. I must be really depleted and it must be for a long time. MSG is hidden in a lot of stuff and it's very hard to get out of your diet unless you eat every meal at home (I'm a travel nurse, that is hard. I raise my own animals for milk meat and eggs, but it's still hard when traveling)."

"I bought this product for my cat since he eats raw food and taurine is a key element in cats' diet. I can see the difference in my cat, he is more energetic. So, I added to my diet (1,000 mg/day) and I can feel the difference too! It gives me more energy and makes me feel better. I'll keep using it and highly recommend it to anybody (cats and humans :o)"
"If you look at the ingredients on most of the energy drinks out there you will find Taurine listed with B vitamins or with various other ingredients. I tried Jarrow Formulas Taurine so I wouldn't have to carry around the energy drinks. For me this is good for energy, concentration, and helps alliviate some chest discomfort associated with high blood pressure. With Vitacost pricing and quick delivery I am recommending them and this product to others."

"I mega-dosed 3x this product upon awakening at 2 a.m. with an excruciating msg headache; caused by overeating a delicious dish at mother's day lunch. THe headache cleared within 15 minutes. I added 2x dose to eliminate intermitent lesser headache, which cleared within another 15 minutes. Taurine is excellent for protecting neurons, easily damaged by food enhancers regularly added to processed sauces, etc."

"As a person who suffers from frequent benign PVCs (Premature Ventricular Contractions or skipped heartbeats), I read across a study suggesting that taurine supplement can reduce the frequency of PVC's.
I took 2 grams of taurine a day and noticed that my PVC frequency has decreased dramatically and I feel great. No side effects at all."
